The Trade Association of Finnish Forestry and Earth Moving Contractors

The Trade Association of Finnish Forestry and Earth Moving Contractors is a national contractor and employer association for the machine contractors in the energy, earth moving and forest machine trades, gathering the machine contractors into joint actions to improve the qualifications for activity.

How the association furthers the interests of its members

1. Looking after interests

• By acting as the representative and organ for the machine contractors in all decision making between society and interest groups
• By following up and taking stand
• Being active on wide basis in the work of preparing and deciding bodies.

2. Labour market activity:

• Acts as an employer organization that negotiates collective agreements and looks after the members’ interests as employers.
• Gives expert advice on questions of labour and contracts based on legislation.
• Designs contracts of employment and forms for following up working hours as well as planning, for member company use.

3. Information

• Sifts and prunes the information that is important to the machine contractors from the information flood.
• Publishes magazines and guides for its members:
• By sending member letters and arranging different occasion and
• Maintaining the extranet, the net service for the members.

4. Advising and training:

• Informs members in matters concerning machine contracting
• Produces and channels training tailored for its members (e.g. quality systems, collective agreements, generation changes, corporate economy, road safety, hot works cards, waste water and environment of sparsely populated areas, taxation, negotiating skills).

5. Leisure time activities:

• Member associations arrange versatile leisure time activities to create good team spirit and team activity.
• FinnMetko arranges annually the Koneyrittäjä-snowmobile and motorbike safaris.

6. Commercial collaboration:

• Member associations establish attractive deals for buying articles and supplies connected with contracting (e.g. oils, hydraulic components, tools and tires).

The Trade Association of Finnish Forestry and Earth Moving Contractors, established in 1969, has 16 member associations and 2500 member contractors. In their own regions member associations attend to local collaboration, information, leisure time activities and looking after economical interests.
